Who should host the baby shower?
Close friends, office co-workers, and family members are typically the hosts for a baby shower. It is perfectly acceptable for more than one host to give the shower in order to share in the responsibilities.
Who should be invited to the baby shower?
All those that are close to the mommy to be should be invited. It is probably a good idea to check with the mommy to be so that no one is left out. It's also a good idea to order a few extra invitations just in case. Should men be invited?
If you plan to have a couples shower or a party for the parents to be, then you definitely want to include the men. These showers can be a fun event for all. Be sure to reflect that men are invited in the invitation by using wording such as a a shower honoring "use both parents names". Address the envelope to both guests. Where should the shower be held?
A baby shower are typically held at the home of the hostess. They can also be held in a private home or yard, in a favorite restaurant, neighborhood clubhouse, community center or church hall. They can be held at the home of the mommy to be to accommodate out of town guests or family. If the shower is held at the mommy to be's home it's a lot of fun to show the guests the baby's nursery.
When should the shower be held?
A baby shower should be held approximately 2 months before the baby's due date. This time frame gives the mom a chance to shop for last minute items she might still need after the shower and allows for the event of an early arrival.
Some showers are given after the baby arrives to welcome the baby. It is common to have this type of shower when the baby is several weeks old or when the mommy is ready. Sometimes this is easier to accommodate out of town relatives that want to attend a shower and see the baby. It is also common if the mommy does not know the baby's gender prior to birth or if it is not her first baby.

Tips for Invitations
