Etiquette Tips

Tips for Baby Showers

Who should host the baby shower?
Close friends, office co-workers, and family members are typically the hosts for a baby shower. It is perfectly aceptable for more than one host to give the shower in order to share in the responsibilites.

Who should be invited to the baby shower?
All those that are close to the mommy to be should be invited. It is probaby a good idea to check with the mommy to be so that no one is left out. It's also a good idea to order a few extra invitaions just in case.
Should men be invited?
If you plan to have a couples shower or a party for the parents to be, then you definatly want to include the men. These showers can be a fun event for all. Be sure to refect that men are invited in the invitation.
Where should the shower be held?
A baby shower are typically held at the home of the hostess. They can also be held in a private home or yard, in a favorite restaurant, neighborhood clubhouse, community center or church hall. They can be held at the home of the mommy to be to accomodate out of town guests or family.
When should the shower be held?
A baby shower should be held approximately 2 months before the baby's due date. This time frame gives the mom a chance to shop for last minute items she might still need after the shower and allows for the event of an early arrival.
Some showers are given after the baby arrives to welcome the baby. It is commom to have this type of shower when the baby is several weeks old or when the mommy is ready. Sometimes this is easier to accomodate out of town relatives that want to attend a shower and see the baby. It is also common if the mommy does not know the baby's sex prior to birth or if it is not her first baby.

Tips for Birth Announcements

A baby's birth is a joyous, once in a lifetime event. Congratulations!
Traditionally a printed paper card sent to friends and family to inform them of the birth of a child. Text usually includes some or all of the following information: baby’s name, date of birth, time of birth, weight, length, and parents’ and siblings' names. Pictures are not included with most traditional birth announcements but have become fashionable with the improvements in technology. (Sending a photo with a thank you note is a nice touch.) It is customary to send birth announcements to everyone you think might want to know. Birth announcements should be sent out as soon as possible and with in the baby's first few months.
Adoption Birth Announcements are sent out when your adoption is finalized. The baby or child can be any age.

Tips for Thank You Notes

Personalized thank you notes make a great impression for a small price. They are the perfect way to show your appreciation for your child's first gifts. When used for a newborn's gifts, note cards generally have the child's full name printed on the front of the card. Your personal hand-written message would go on the inside. Thank you notes are typically sent as soon as possible after receipt of the gift. For Baby Shower gifts, we suggest printing, Thank You from Baby "Last Name". Personalized stationery is great to always have on hand for sending notes of gratitude for acts of kindness or gifts.
If you prefer, we can print a thank you message on the inside as well. See the verses for wording ideas.

Tips for Invitations

A custom printed invitation sets the tone for your event. Attractive design, the chosen font, ink color and appropriate text make an important impression on your guests. Fun invitations with bright colors in a cute Font set a more relaxed fun party. Simple designs or those with ribbons with a traditional calligraphy or script Font (font) will send a more formal message. We have a great selection of baby shower, christening and birthday invitations to fit your needs. Invitations for most events are typically sent out four to six weeks in advance, but less formal occasions require less notice. Response cards are usually sent out with wedding invitations and are not needed for baby shower, christening or birthday invitations.
